A quick sketch idea for a larger painting. This is Havelet Bay in Guernsey and this is a scene I’ve wanted to paint for a long time, it reminds me of long, hot summers. Today I got my photos out and decided to do a small sketch to see how the painting might look if I got my act together.
This sketch is done on a little 5×7 inch crescent marker board. It’s a nice board to paint on, very smooth and white, I liked the surface. I used acrylics for this and painted quickly. I wanted to get the major shapes and colours down without any detail. I added the calligraphic boats once it was dry. The board took the paint well and didn’t warp.
you are an amazingly talented artist !. do you have any more Guernsey scenes ?
Thanks Lesley. I have lots in my head! :-) But nothing finished yet, not even this one.
